Both villages put on various festivals over the spring and
summer.
This part of Brittany is well-known for its megalithic sites,(including
Carnac – 80
kms) and there are dolmens and menhirs dotted about all over.
Redon (10.5km) is the nearest town and has plenty of shops and supermarkets,
plus two hypermarkets on the outskirts, a pedestrianised old town with some striking
16th and 17th century buildings and good restaurants.
It also has a weekly market, part indoors where you can buy anything from clothes
to seafood including live eels(a local speciality).
Boat hire and river cruises can be arranged from here.

Further afield is Rochefort-en-Terre(16km)

a chateau which can be visited and a lake with pedalos for

La Gacilly (8.5km) has plenty of art/craft shops, hire of boats and pleasure
cruises on the River Aff and the botanic gardens at the Yves Rocher foundation
where there is also a shop selling their perfumes and beauty products.
There are some attractive small resorts with good beaches on the coast, at Penn
Lann, Damgan and Penestin 35/40 minutes drive away and Vannes is a very pleasant
city to visit on the Gulf of Morbihan (about 45 minutes) with well-known resorts
such as La Baule and le Croisic further afield as well as the walled city of
La Guerande and the Briere Nature Park where you can walk through the marshes
or take a guided trip on a punt.
For cities both Rennes (70 kms) for its Old Town and Nantes (75 kms) with its
